It's Sunday

Well it just so happens to be a beautiful Sunday here in Portland Me. It is also Father's Day, so happy Father's Day everyone.. Well all the fathers and fathers to be at least.

Haven't really been doing too much lately, last week I came in contact with Poison Ivy on my left leg and I have to say that its not fun. The itch has stopped for the most part but at this point it is a nasty case of contact dermatitis. This essentially means that my skin came in contact with something in the enviorment that it didn't like and now it is an allergic reaction that is complete with pain, pus, scabs, and reddened new skin. Treatment basically goes as follows; keep it clean, keep an eye on it, wrap if needed ( I do that part for work and sleep), treat with an anti itch cream such as Benadryl and an ointment with germ killing powers (Neosporin). When it gets wrapped I use gauze, (athletic pre-wrap which I ran out of and had to get at Icing..) and tape. Around the ankle I perform a figure 8 that wraps around the foot and upper ankle and the biggest spot which is on the anterio-lateral portion of my leg just distal to the fibular head I simply wrap tape making sure it points towards the fat part of the leg. This ensures proper contours and clean tape that lacks folds.

Tiny little rant time: Pre-wrap is not used to hold your hair back, as a belt, or some fashionable wristbands. Pre-wrap is used to protect the skin from the adhesive qualities of tape and can also effectively be used as cho-pads for patella tendonitis. It shouldn't be sold at Icing where you can get hello kitty earrings...

This past week I moved my room around and it freakin awesome. I just need to go to a local beach and invest in some paper weights.
I have been doing alot of reading this Summer, everyone who may still be looking at this blog check out "The Saxon Series" and "The Grail Quest Series" both are by Bernard Cornwell and are great. Speaking of the "Saxon Series" I am on book three and I accidentally went to Borders here in So Po and bought book 5 before book 4... ooops, I got them confused.

So finally, I want to keep doing this but if anyone is actually reading these posts tell me what you want me to talk about or ask me questions. I don't want to keep rambling about my boring life.

Well I'm back... Kinda. We will have to see how consistent I can be with my posts but I feel like this is a good start, well restart.

Not sure you guys know but the Boston Bruins are Stanley Cup Champs. The Stanley Cup is the oldest trophy in all four of the North American sports. Here's a name for you kids to watch out for Brad Marchand- he's a grinder. He is a grinder that outworks his opponents down low and can set up a teammate or snipe high glove side. This kid is gonna be huge.

Well its back to homework for me. I will do my best to keep up with this.

Man I have been lazy. I know Its been over a month since I last posted and for all of you that follow Im sorry. I will be honest I havent really felt like posting. Lets see, school has been going pretty well, I am falling behind a bit but that happens to me alot during the course of the semester.

As far as clinicals go, I stretch alot of people esp. distance runners for track and baseball players. I havent really delt with any acute injuries but I sure it will happen soon. I plan on covering some softball games in April.

Has been going to the gym alot more in the last 3 weeks than I think I did in the last 2 months. Ive got a few things going on with that, wed nights on the Gorham campus I am playing floor hockey I am really looking forward to this b.c I havent played in about 5 years. At the end of May I am seriously considering doing my first 5K. Its a run/walk, but I guess you have to start somewhere. During the 4th of July holiday I would like to enter a "strongman" competition on the Bath waterfront.

Finally in a month fishing season opens. Nice. I get to pay out the ass to take a chem class, not even the one that I wanted on the USM campus. This is bc SMCC a community college is offering the class I wanted to take but there isnt going to be enough open slots for members of the community to sign up and take the class. So much for being a COMMUNITY college. The hunt for an apartment continues...

Well it has been a little while since I have last posted. I just want to start off by saying that the Boston Bruins are terrible. Right about now they look like a team of under achievers and I think just about anyone on the team is trade bait.

I want to say congratulations to my friend Sean for his promotion. Right on bud. I missed my first full day of classes in 2 years today. Yesterday I was having a reaction to something and it just got worse, that sucked. So anyway I was completely drained when I woke up today so I thought I would take the day off.

Today I made herb and garlic marinated chicken, mixed veg, and Annie's mac and cheese. It came out pretty good.

Classes are going pretty well, they are very challenging and thats a good thing. I my opinion it actually forces you to get something out of the class. My clinicals started out rough but I have slowly been getting the hang of it and feeling more comfortable every day.
I would have to say my goal this semester is learn my limits and get involved more. I plan on working more with the ATSA which is an athletic training organization put together by the students. I am going to be working with a member of the CBD rostery developing my own coffee blend. I just put together an exercise program last night and hope to be going 4-5 days a week coming up.

I have been looking for apartments to move into for the summer and fall of next year. I have been seeing some good places, and talking with potential roommates. Westbrook and Portland are front runners for cities to live in.

I was talking with my friend Sean and we came to the conclusion that it is completely stupid that when guys are going after girls its 100% the guys responsibility to get things done, even if we know that said female feels the same way. Talk about amature hour.

I think Im about done with this post. I really hope I can make them a lot better and more interesting. I will leave with a bit of a shout out, Ariel I am looking forward to seeing you during spring break, come with some ideas of things to do.

Check out these bands... Beatsteaks, The Streets, The Dreadnoughts, The Rumjacks and go to www.shitenonions.com and check out their podcast and Barnacle Brain's podcast.

Thursday Night

So it has been afew days since I have last posted. Sadly enough not a whole lot has been going on. I dog sat last saturday for my brother and his wife, their doggie is named Ruger and he is a bit of a hand full but it didnt take long till he was rolling over for me and letting me rub his tummy.

I started going to the gym again this week. I have been 3 days in a row which is pretty big for me because recently I have lost my drive, it feels like it is coming back tho and that is really good. I starting to get tired around 11 at night which is really good too conisdering I need to get back to a normal sleep schedual for school.

I am ready to go back I'm pretty much counting down the days. I need to find a new chair, mine is broken what an ordeal that is. I get to go to work on saturday and possibly galactic bowling on saturday night. Sunday I might go to Bath and get breakfast with my dad and my brother and then maybe go ice fishing.

Well any way I think this post is pretty awful, I just feel like I needed to post something and I had afew minutes tonight. Im off to bed.

Ya I'm Bored/ Bruins Break Down

I know I just posted, but I wanted to express the amount and stress that comes with planning to do things and squandering every attempt to do it. Its only my fault and no one elses so for now I know where to fix it.
I am attempting to clean my appt. a little bit, this should be fun - _ -

As for my Bruins.

I'm happy Phil Kessel is gone, you know based on the what was it 6 or 7 different players last season with 20+ goals I can see where you would think the team would be fine. Blake Wheeler is not playing to potential, David Krecji is not playing to potential, Savard tho he has been injured is not playing to potential, Zdeno Chara is not playing to potential. Michael Ryder who is notorious for his slow starts need to find a way to put his efforts into over drive. Marco Strum is starting to warm up slowly and it seems Patrice is back.
I want to see Dennis Wideman GONE by the trade deadline, hes awful. He cant skate, he's a turn over machine, and needs to stop taking shots if he cant hit the net. Johnny Boychuck welcome to the big club, someone give this guy a contract extension please.

I think if you want to be a tough team to play against that should start with a tough D-corps. Mark Stuart, Zdeno, Boychuck, Morris, Ference, someone please get rid of Wideman and give Adam McQuaid a fair shot.

Miro Satan signs with the team. Its a pro-rated 700mil dollar deal. I'm happy with it, hes here for the 2nd half of the season so the B's are only on the hook for half the contract. Hes good for 15-20 and unlike the other 81 he actually goes in the corners! What will happen when Lucic comes back, who sits? I think it will be Bitz, hes been doing a decent job but what more could you ask for from a guy from western Canada who wants to retire and start up a dairy farm? He and Sobotka are the odd men out.

Goal tending.. I don't mind having 2 goalies to run with, It worked for a little while when we had Manny, but then he stopped playing over his head. Timmy will be gone by the deadline in 2 years.

Sunny Thursday

It should be fairly obvious or at least known that I am currently on my winter break. It started sometime in mid December. It depends on when your finals fall and what kind of tests they are, pretty much all of mine were on the Monday of finals week; Lucky me. Any way here at USM and most Maine universities we have a break that is a little over a month. Wrapped up in the break we have the two eves and the 2 "major" holidays that are associated with said eves. So you have eve one, Christmas, and the day after where everyone is returning their sweaters and redeeming their gift cards. Then you have eve part 2 and new years and sometimes the day after 'cause we all know no one wants to remember the start of their new year.

I guess I will start to pretend that I have a point here so everyone keeps reading this thing. I worked on my holidays which I am okay with, I still got to see my family and wrestle with my little nieces whom I love very much ( they helped me open presents). On eve number 2 I worked came home early because the business at the coffee shop in Beans died right out and simply sat around. I guess the truth was I had a cold and didn't want to drink any booze but what ever. New Years I spent in a chair watching the Bruins underachieve for most of the Winter Classic, on to have 2 shots that essentially were not even on net get tipped in the goal. One happened with less that 5 minutes left and the other happened 2 minutes into overtime. Yes, I am happy with the win but I will get to my Bruins later.

So I had a lot of things planned for my month long break. Aside from working I wanted to hang out with friends, I needed to get on a serious gym routine; I went from a guy who used to do 2-a-days 5 days a week to a guy who pretty much goes 3 days a week to bi monthly and that is unacceptable. I wanted to re-read and make an outline for my Starky Book; its all about evaluation of orthopedic and athletic injuries. I wanted to figure out how I was going to stay on top of my work next semester, I have 15.5 credits plus 150 clinical hours among other things that I need do balance. I also wanted to finish a book of my choice and get on a better sleep schedule.

Progress report, I have done none of those things. Well I have hung out with friends, but the gym has been non-existent, Starky is somewhere in my backpack and itsover there closed **points to the right. I started planning a little and reading too which is good, but over all I need to step my game up.
Any way sorry for the self loathing rant, I'm still trying to feel this bear cat out.

Until Next Time
